Inline hydraulic brake levers?

Been working with my LBS to try and find if it's possible to have ancillary CX-style, bar-top brake levers with hydraulic systems and there doesn't seem to be much out there. Shimano makes a set but we can't find out details on how they work and what's involved in installing them.

Any o'y'all ever looked into this?

If these aren't a thing, what are CX racers doing these days?

In line Brake Levers

I have attended lots of CX Races over the years.

Was just at the Trek Cup races this past weekend, I didn't see ANYONE using them in ANY Cat field. Racers are either on the Drops or the Hoods.

My son races CX and never uses/used them either.

I saw one set up that was way kludgy and heavy too. And not shimano..

I have my Disc Lynskey set up with juintech 4 pot cable actuated hydro calipers with TRP carbon top bar levers.

Polished stainless cables, compression-less housings, yada... 90% as good as my R8000 brakes. But that to be clear is a distinction of feel, no issue stopping. Side note: I always use swiss stop organic green disc pads up front, modulation improvement big time. Rear I don't want a better brake and have quit using the compression-less housings even.

I like the top levers for city stuff as I am a tops mainly bar guy for JRA

Also, not all carbon bars should have things clamped on fwiw.

Shimano GRX inline brake levers

Google my message title and go to tech docs on the Shimano page.

If I remember correctly you are going Campy on your bike. Luckily Campy brakes are made by Magura and they use mineral oil (vs. DOT) for hydro fluid. Shimano uses mineral oil too. MTBers mix and max Magura calipers with Shimano levers. Chris Froome did something similar with Shimano Brifters and Magura calipers. You should be able to use the Shimano inline levers with Campy. SRAM is the odd one out and uses DOT fluid.

Honestly I always thought the inline levers are gimmicky and offered no real benefits.

The inline hydro-levers appear to add a lot of unnecessary clutter.

Yeah, those were the ones we found. LBS said the lines were incompatible with Ekar.
