The next generation

My nephew Owen, with whom I rode on Christmas, is an avid cyclist. He has the family bike acquisition gene. At 26, he has 5 bikes (at that age I had 2). He has a little different selection than me - two full suspension mountain bikes (between trail and enduro class he says), a fat bike, a fixie for commuting, and a BMX bike. Mostly uses flat pedals without straps. Wears compression shorts but not chamois ("I'm not on the saddle very much"). Not sure he's ever had a conventional road bike. A different setup, but he loves to turn the pedals, so it's really all the same.

My brother (his father) never had a lot of bikes, but he still has a beautiful '74 Celeste Bianchi Pro. So I told him he's a carrier of the multi-bike gene.
