Pegoretti, he was brilliant...

https://road.cc/content/news/247339-dario-pegoretti-famed-italian-framebuilder-dies-aged-62

I had one of his frames for a couple of seasons. I sold it with every intention of replacing it with one of his higher end frames with a more eccentric paint job but shortly after selling it my situation changed and it just didn't happen. It was, to this day, the nicest bike I've ever ridden. The Parlee Z1X I ride now was modeled after the Pegoretti, still the Pegoretti was nicer despite being half the price and aluminum. I'm sad I didn't buy another when I had the chance. He was one of the best, if not THE best.

Makes me sad.
Always wanted to have a special bike and had the luck to get one last year.
Rides very nice and is beautiful. Every ride is a joy.

Grazie Mille and rest in peace, Dario!

A shock. Someone from the company posted on another forum that the company will continue. There are three others that did much of the day to day, so the bikes should remain the same. The special paint otoh, was Dario.

A shock?

Pegoretti was a uniquely brilliant builder and an artist genius, but his early demise can hardly be a shock considering his seriously unhealthy lifestyle. I remember reading an article about him a few years ago and thinking how odd it was that someone who was creating such wonderful machines that people use to maintain their health and fitness could be basically a "heart attack waiting for a place to happen".

It's truly sad to lose someone of his talent and stature, and he will deservedly be missed by many, but I can't say I'm surprised. If only he had taken better care of himself...it's really a shame.
