Even cooler would have been if they hadn't, and she started eating away at 1/2 the men race [or more].

I'Ve seen this happen in local races where a lower class goes hard from the bell and catch a higher class. The overall times were similar but the A's went slow at first but very fast at the end., where the B's went hard from the bell and didn't speed up much.
