Getting taken out by a kangaroo

You might have already seen this one, as it seems to have been making the rounds. Looks a bit ugly for the female cyclist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4QkGoOZ_AE

I've had a couple of close encounters with kangaroos while cycling, but haven't actually hit one or had one hit me. A couple of friends have sustained broken bones, though, after colliding with kangaroos and wallabies. They're very erratic and unpredictable and quite fast - the engineer at Volvo in charge of animal avoidance spent several weeks out here a couple of years back studying kangaroos, and commented that it's much harder to design an animal avoidance system for kangaroos than one for avoiding elk or reindeer.

I have come close-ish to deer 3 times, one of those times had me more worried. The deer had got stuck between the fences on the MUT and I came up over a rise I had powered up. It was ping ponging trying to jump back over both side alternately. Only every other try was on the I-205 side. I was afraid if he decided going past me was a choice. The hoof noise under the little path underpass was loud and stimulating. So more adrenaline, and I had just dome an interval charge up the ride to get there... ;)
