What's in a name?
American Classic closes Taiwan factory.
Sorry to see them fail, though I can't recall hearing of them for years (decades?).

That's too bad. I was very pleased with the CR-420 wheelset that I had for a few years. I guess they didn't plunge into carbon wheelsets quickly enough.

Same here. Had a pair of AC wheels, was quite happy with it. "Light wheel" for its days.
Too bad they don't survive.

This is a strange one
Their products were innovative and high quality, but they never really seemed to gain any traction in the marketplace. Other small companies (Stans comes to mind) have been able to make it in the wheel biz competing against the big boys. Was it just another case of a company that was run by engineers who didn't understand marketing? I don't know, but it's a shame that they failed.

I had a road set and a MTB set and had trouble with the rear hubs. They had many designs of the freehub and parts were confusing. I don't think I got 6 months out of either freehub before they started requiring maintenance.
I quit buying their stuff after that.
