Alabama election
Sparky, I know you’re still up. All the moaning against President Trump and his associates, all the gleeful feel-good comment when Trump’s associates troubles... But not a word about the Alabama result?
The people of Alabama had exercised their civic duty instead of just blindly following party loyalty. That’s how democracy is supposed to work!

I actually thought he would win, and then DT would turn on him after the fact once the DEM guy was taken out of the equation.
25 years since a DEM has sat on a senate seat I believe.
Voters are very passive aggressive It seems.

While acknowledging how Alabama traditionally votes, 670k to 650k was still closer than it really should have been for a man who didn't acknowledge amendments after the 10th. (you know, women voting, slaves) and who said homosexuality was akin to pig fucking.
And, strangely, Hillary Clinton commenting on this being the beginning of the return of the Democrats offended me as well. She's the only candidate that Trump could have beaten.
For the record, I'm sitting in an armchair in Canada, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about, eh.

"for a man who didn't acknowledge amendments after the 10th."
How about getting kicked off the bench twice for ignoring law for what he thought should be. How he can even be a candidate is beyond me.
I can see him praying for a recount... As soon as he gets back from a date, where the girl has to be home by 8:30

Hillary is the excuse Democrat use for bungling the election!
This time they learned their lesson and stopped taking black voters for granted.
The sexual scandal also woke up many women voters too, I expect the final analysis would show that.
After the Trump win, many Democrat swing voters woke from their apathy and turn out to vote! THAT, made the difference!

Just like DT would have been a sore loser IME, no surprise Moore is refusing to concede.
Similarly, Hilly in PDX last night attracted protesters and counter protesters.
As far as protesting her selling books, maybe stay home and just don't buy her book. They do realize there is zero chance she will unseat the sitting President, don't they? ;) Election being over and all...
Just a question, what are the odds if the US embassy opens in Jerusalem the next Benghazi will occur? Or is this what they want, to further Muslim 'bans' et al?
And if yes, will another gazillion tax dollars be spent to try to hang someone else as before?
>Further more, is this upset in Alabama another case of getting an normally untapped group of voters that stay home to the polls?
Like with OB, our Americans that are Afro American I refer to. In combination perhaps with an amount of the Angelical voter that stayed home due to just not being able to do it.
Although the 28% DT won AL by might suggest otherwise, or was it the Minor female allegations? At least DT went for adult women as far as one can tell.

I'm surprised Roy Moore got 1 vote, and the fact that it was a close race astounds me. Even without the child molestation claims, his lack of tolerance and respect for constitutinal rights makes me wonder about humanity.

"his lack of tolerance and respect for constitutinal rights makes me wonder about humanity"
A lot of the last year of politics has me wondering about that. Well, it started for me with the Bachman/Palin/Walker/etc Tea Party lot I guess, so more than a year.
I maintain I see a 'Fascist' element creeping into our governing bodies I hope I am wrong about.
But more recent happenings like taking away a sitting president's normal legal and constitutional job of choosing a Supreme Court Justice by the fuckers we elect/pay to write laws seems so.
Or was it Citizens United and redistricting that actually elected these jamokes. Redistricting being an old trick that is one of the best tricks of course on both sides? ;)

If you think Citizens United was bad, wait until the Republican tax reform bill kicks in and eliminates the Johnson Amendment - then all those political contributions can be directed to tax exempt entities and donors can get tax benefits from them.

Last I read that 'the Johnson Amendment' was not in the senate bill, but was in the house version.
The GOP must have info Mueller is getting too close. I read the House Judiciary Committee seems to have right/reps taking turn stepping up and ramping up the witch hunt angle.

Wow,
-Kentucky State Rep. Republican Dan Johnson addresses the public from his church regarding sexual assault allegations in Louisville, Ky. on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
-Dan Johnson, a Republican state lawmaker in Kentucky known for inflammatory Facebook posts comparing Barack and Michelle Obama to monkeys and who defiantly denied allegations that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl in the basement of his home, killed himself Wednesday night.

"... I maintain I see a 'Fascist' element creeping into our governing bodies I hope I am wrong about..."
Disclaimer: I'm only a passive observer from Canada; however, after seeing the CNN image Walter shared and the overall closeness of the final tally - it's easy to wonder if perhaps that "Fascist element" is already well-permeated amongst many (white?) American voters as well - at least in Alabama and/or other pro-DT areas.

We’re a democracy. As long as there are Fascists in the population, it can creep into the government like any other fringe elements.
Who was it said “we deserve our government”?

Perhaps a more contemporary terminology could explain our current day gov., NOT
And BTW April re:"But not a word about the Alabama result?"
It feels even better to me today, no denying it I am afraid.
I near threw up watching the VID of Mrs. Moore with Mr. Moore addressing her interpretation and voicing of 'a jew' in attempt to show they are not bigots. They even have a pet 'jew' for an attorney.
If I was their 'Jewish attorney' they wouldn't after I saw that I can say. Although milking them for retainers to fund your kids college has a certain good flavor to it. ;)
Hope this is not in poor taste:

dfcas, et al you give me hope for the south...seriously. I read the Bitter Southerner religiously and own a house in Charlottesville, where I'm going next year god willin' and the creek don't rise.
The tide has turned. Bannon is meat. Trump is doing his best Nicholson doing Whitey impersonation of "there's a rat" "I hate rats". God, I love the Departed.Too bad Scorsese isn't going to live long enough to film his Last Waltz.
ok, so I shouldn't drink and post. g'night.
