I finished the Col Du telegraphe today. Its a little shorter than the stelvio but on average steeper. its not as pretty either, but it certainly is a formidable climb.

I think I'll takes Greg's advice and try the Galibier. I could use a less steep climb.

I wonder how long a chain lasts in these conditions? 95% of my ride time is fairly steep climbing.

Considering that you're indoors where one would presume that your chain is not getting attacked by dirt and moisture, your chain should last pretty much indefinitely if it's kept lubed.

Make sure you do the south side, the north side is much more difficult.

I started Mont Ventoux. I don't know which side I'm going up, but the grade is soft, usually between 5-6% for most of the climb. The graph shows that the top, maybe the last 5-7 K, gets way steep. I'd say the scenery is blah at this point but I'm still below the treeline. I think it gets bald as I get higher.

Hope you got lunch in Sault (where you started).
It opens up just before it gets steeper at Chalet Reynard.

It's a different climb from Bedoin

Having done the actual - rather than virtual - climb, the first 5K from Bedoin is ~5%, then it kicks up to 9.5% and stays within a point or two either side of that until you get to the chalet. That's where the road from Sault joins, though I never actually noticed where it came in. I guess between the suffering on the way up and the elation of being on flat ground momentarily, I wasn't paying much attention. ;-)

To compare the two, the climb from Sault is 1152 meters (3802 ft.) at an average of 4.5%. From Bedoin, the climb is 1612 meters (5320 ft.) at an average of 7.5%. Another way to look at it is that it's 40% higher and 67% steeper. Big Ouch!

I went back and read the description and I am doing it from Sault. Thats plenty hard enough...

The Mortirolo is the hardest I've done yet.
