Is this a great year or what?
Not to belabor my medical plight, but this am I was walking my Dalmatians in the dark when they went medieval on a (very) nearby skunk, sending me flying, landing square on my right shoulder fracturing the humerus, surgery Friday.
I want absolutely no sympathy, after awhile I just started laughing.

For their sake I hope they got sprayed.
For yours I hope they didn't!

Affirmative
They got a glancing hit, and I might add they accomplished their mission.

Dan, Dan, Dan...
You do seem to find "innovative" ways to get hurt 😂
What part of the humerus fractured?
Was it mid-bone or up in the ball?
Surgery required, or just a sling and then painful PT ?
have a good rest of the year!

Never mind. Just reread the line about the surgery.
Are you getting screwed?

That's a personal question
But yes, it is at the top and it should be a plate and screws. The alternative is a replacement, but the surgeon recommended repair.

I am not sure I believe you anymore...
OK, no sympathy as requested. Need another hat?
"Are you getting screwed?"
Clearly. ;)
Best Dan

I can't think of anything to say, so I wish you a speedy recovery.
I went to a dentist office today and they are trying to sell me $20,000 worth of work. No insurance.

It seems that...
...you and Linda (my girlfriend) are in a race to see who can break the most bones in the shortest period of time. I think you have the lead at the moment, but Linda will start racing 'cross soon, so who know...?
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, again.

If you keep this up, Dan-e, you will accumulate enough titanium for a beautiful frame.
Wishes for a speedy, complete recovery.
Dan-c, I have fairly inexpensive dental insurance through a $16/yr AARP membership. Helps a little.

Dude. You remind me of me.
I have a ton of screws in my right humerus-fx'd twice-dang, the hardware is annoying, but its been there a long time.
Anyway, heal fast. Eat your fiber.

Adding insult to injury
A nurse who read the note said she felt really sorry for me as not only did I get hurt, I got sprayed.
April, of course I'm a righty.

But did she actually smell you?
Well, my wife is doing well. I wish I could say the same for you, in all sincerity.
6 weeks and one day, got her follow up and x-ray today. Doc cleared her for full time with no restrictions. Exactly 1/2 the 90 days usual for this procecure she said. She was working 5 days 25 hours, except she will fo full day tomorrow.
It is so nice to see her in no pain, can't remember that..

Smell
No but the nurse that wrote the note did. Nobody accused me of making the story up. Glad Elaine is doing well.

Jeez,
I had to go and look at the post date to see if it really was today, or was this an old post or something. I thought I was accident prone. Keep this up and the only rides they'll let you do is Wounded Warriors.
Heal well and fast.

Shouldering the burden
Came home yesterday after the surgery. The surgeon said it went well and it feels pretty good. A plate and a lot of screws. He said with the newer hardware the screws thread into the plate which makes the repair more stable. I have a decent rotator cuff, which is a toss-up at this age. I'm in a sling for 6 weeks but can take it off at times. I can drive as long as I'm not taking pain meds, which I'm not. Good thing I no longer drive a stick. I'm encouraged.
