Sec of State busts leg falling off bike in Europe.

Kerry, heal well my friend..

How are you doing Walter?? Who else is currently off the bike? MEH. ;)

EDIT: I think he is headed for Stateside surgery as soon as he gets home...

I've not seen too many details other than he hit a curb...

Sure hope he bounces back.

I haven't paid strict attention but it sounds like the break was his femur with a hip replacement. Correct me if I'm wrong, don't want to start a misinformation campaign or anything.

So does this qualify for cross-thread drift? (Walter, April, me, etc.)

Yeah Walter, how goes it?

And April, we've been focused on your future in cycling, are you otherwise mended?

Yeah your foot issue too now. Price of being active?

At least I am mostly off the list with my ankle sprain. Although I was eating ibuprofen after a 50 miler recently. It ain't over 100%, but at least I got back on the clipless week three. Although I had to reach down and manually push the heal out to clip out for a few rides...

I get the feeling it will be months and months before getting to 100% if I actually ever do...

Kerry, femur frac. Info was sparse. just saw this...

quote:
The bike never got far beyond the parking lot.

Just before setting off for a 90-minute grueling uphill segment used in the Tour de France, the motorcycles that typically accompany him on his bike rides fired up their engines. The secretary of state glanced toward them and, as he was momentarily distracted, his front wheel hit a curb at the edge of the parking lot, causing his bike to abruptly stop.

Kerry then tumbled over, and his right thigh slammed into a different portion of the same curb. The force focused near the hip, fracturing his femur, which resulted in a long journey back to Boston to have it repaired.
