Big tires and hills MTN
Grabbed the 29er and met a friend a top 'Powell Butte' which has paved, gravel, and single track.
I did not change out anything on the 29er, and had popped some tires/wheels I got in a trade.
28mm wide Salsa rims with 36 straight ga spokes and a 2.4 front with a 2.2 rear Conti Something Kings. Weight Kings I think. What a workout climbing with so much wheel/tire!
So you drop off the top of the butte into the woods on the south side, loosing both the views and your lungs coming back to the top where we started.
But thankfully the 29er has some seriously low gearing to come back up spinning. A glorious day on the bike with only 10 miles visibility. Can't wait to go back on a high visibility day. Should be a 5-10 volcano/mtn view experience... Closest one being 60 miles in 10 mile visability yesterday, it was a none out day. ;)
Territorial views of the gorge and the WA Camus hill still awesome... Not to mention towards the Lava fields to the east.
I feel stupid that being here since 2011 I only got to Powell Butte near 2015. 1/2 hour from the house.
Web site says 5 mtn views, but I have seen pictures from there of 4 more to the south also. Have to see this for myself... ;)
