Too Many Cross Bikes
So I've had a Lemond Poprad for a long time. Along comes a Bailey carbon cross frame at a good deal and I decide to buy it and decide between the 2 and sell 1 off. Alas, I am unable to decide between the 2 and I still have 2 cross bikes.
A few days ago, a used SEVEN ti cross frameset comes up and it looks like it was made for me. Low bottom bracket, dual brake options ( disc and canti) and pretty titanium finish. So now I have steel, carbon, and ti framesets and I really want to choose 1 and 1 only,so instead of downsizing I upsize.
I don't ride my road bike much anymore due to our roads being so beat up. I honestly don't enjoy it and worry about hitting a pothole on a downhill and blowing a tire/rim or crashing. I have poor eyesight and the roads are really bad.
I hope the SEVEN is as nice as I expect. I bought a Seven some years ago that was was too soft in the drivetrain and was way too flexy. Prettiest and worst frame I ever bought. The owner of this one says it is burly so I hope so. Should have it in a few days.
As of late, I've kinda been leaning toward ti as a longterm frame,as I have 2 carbons now but long for something different.
Maybe I should get Sparkys' cast off wheels...

I have 2 sets of 135 spaced disc wheels from my 29'er mtb that I don't ride anymore. Wide, 23-24mm rims. I may, however, build it as a canti bike using the Ouzo pro cross fork I have. The wheels I have can be used rim brake or disc. I could save 2-3 lbs going canti. I don't go fast enough to stress brakes anyway.

So many bikes, so little time
FWIW, I see lots of 7s at D2R2, which I'd take as a good sign. Including a tandem ridden by a couple doing the 160 (and said they'd done the 180 a couple times). Yikes.

The new 7 goes both ways. 135 spacing.

Duh, you did just say that it was both. I gotta get out and burn off some caffeine...
So 650B conversion an option on that one. So not all 3 really copies.
As evidenced by my threads and 650B post, I and seriously considering trying out the Disc SL4 with some similar tires to the 42C Speeds on my TCX.
They are really 37.5mm as I have posted already someplace[s]. ;)
Thinking of that 37 commuter tire fit at the LBS when I piked up the Roubaix, same size tire in a 650B will give more than the 2MM clearance that it had.
OK, out for a long inaugural on the Roubaix.
Report back later....

I dont want a tire as big as 42, and the 7 has too much BB drop to put a smaller 650b tire on, I'm afraid. The BB drop was what attracted me to it, as I like to run tires in the 28-30mm range.

Discs at D2R2
You see some, but I don't think it's a very large percentage.

With bikes like the Boonen Trek and these disc SL4 Roubaix offerings... Not surprised if this type of bike and events such as that become synonymous.
