Any one watching the Tour Of Utah?
The MTN stages are whack! ;)
So cobbles and nasty roads seem to be getting popular on road stage races.
Enter TOU, the MTN stage has a 1.5 mile of dirt road, and possibly another section of gravel grinding at the stage end. And also seems to have rained up there before they got there according to commentary...
Should be interesting to watch, which is what I am doing when I should be out on the bike...
Commentators saying two gravel sections, Second one is to the finish line. Maybe second is just a lop repeat?
So do you drag the Pave tires all day, or risk tearing up the tire before the finish I wonder

I have directTV and much to my surprise it's being broadcast, so if you have cable or satellite, do a search you might have a pleasant surprise.

Local Kid
I am asking forgiveness up front after lamenting in another thread about folks posting crash videos. This stage video of the TOU highlights a local espoir (from town next door to me - Dedham MA.)Gavin Mannion. His dad Tommy Mannion raced with Sean Kelly in Ireland in his youth). Watched over the years when young Gavin grow up first as a little guy who used to accompany his dad to our Wells Ave. training crit. Then following his Dad and CCB teammates on training rides. Then spanking the Wells Ave "A" race and older experienced racers telling others about being spanked by this "man boy" LOL I remember seeing him around 10:30 am in the winter in 20 degree weather coming back from training rides. He has steadily progressed one tough kid'''''

I've been watching it on Eurosport. The coverage could be better, though - the motorcycle cameramen and their pilots could profitably take some lessons from the French, and the commentary (Tim Johnson and a real idiot of a co-commentator) can only be described as irritating.

Watched most of the race...in between the yawns.
More like watching a Vuelta training camp for the contenders.
Danielson....don't know what it is exactly, just hard for me to like the guy.
Swear it looks like he coats his face in makeup....or is the bronzing from another source?
