TTF Rides Again

Maine Team Time Trial Festival, Poland Maine yesterday. 1st place Eddy Merckx "cannibal" divisional age group winners Rick Hardy / Dan Emery

Dan & I won the race two years ago. We were not able to defend last years as I was still recovering from my crash the November prior. It was heartening to be able to return to race and win again. Entries this year were light. Unfortunately I had bad legs yesterday but Dan more than made up for it as he was the engine this day and was responsible for the win. The traditional prizes are fresh baked local pies. As Dan quipped at the start line to our competition: We "had our eyes on the pies"

Ummm pie

Actually I was eating a piece of my excellent pie as I saw this. Thanks to Rick for coming up here and riding this - 2 man tts are just a ball, and particularly riding with a friend. The 120+ Merckx Division is pretty selective. This is a great event, fun course and a good old school tt.

Congrat's at the festival, got it done!

Just don't eat the whole pie in one sitting now, LOL, ...past tense.

Tell us about y'alls aero positioning using standard road bars.
Did you tweak the bikes for this event?

Aero positioning

I just rode in the hooks instead of on the hoods where I usually ride, and more or less tried to stay low. Didn't touch the bike.

I have been confining myself to one piece of pie per day.

Thanks for the congrats, a fun day all around.

Don't look too slick or aero but hey, we don't practice!

The pie is excellent but

Get out the marmalade, 'cuz my legs are toast! That little interval session took its toll....

To dddd and Sparky, who commented on the Sachs. I think I will send Richard a pic, just so he will know that, on some level, the bike is raced. His concept is to build race bikes that are beautiful, not the other way around. I feel a bit the poser riding one, but hey, what better bike for a Merckx time trial? I have totally bonded with the bike. Century, time trial, climbing, descending, bad pavement, good pavement, the bike is a joy to ride.

Hey Dan

I had so much fun I did another time trial last night nothing to write home about but tonight my legs felt great. Too bad that wasn't the case on Sunday, you brought it on Sunday!
