New GoPro video and interval work.

This is the final effort at the end of a 4 minute interval.

http://youtu.be/wXK_6ZcFF-g

Started the effort at mid 140 range and held a solid 3:30 minutes at 185+. Ended the effort at 189. Though I peaked the effort a little early.

Whew!

Good effort. My 4 minute intervals seldom last more than 30 seconds.

Beautiful country there, but watch out for the road kill(?).

One imagines that the cadence is high(?), 28+mph.

What I call gobbling up the miles.

Part 2 with hydration station? Chaser ambulance?

"3:30 minutes at 185+"

185+ watts, right? What is the measuring device ?

Uh no sparky. THAT is measured HR.

The effort was well above 185 watts based on Strava estimates which are most often considered conservative. 251 avg for the interval. Nothing huge compared to the real folks.

The effort is on Strava. Feel free to gab a screen shot from there and post it. I have my privacy settings tight so linking it here won't work.

Freirson Drag Race SW. 17 April 2014. PR and third on the leader board.

Yes road kill, o'possum. No ambulance needed. I do these efforts all the time. Max speed was 50kph +.

Oh, I see. I don't think I even go that high anymore.

I say a spike last year to 188, but seems like 182-3 is my max these days. And I stay away best I can. ;)

I thought about it after I typed it, at that MPH you were pushing double 185 watts or better I'd guess.

Are most drivers in your area so polite? Pleased to see that the truck gave you a full lane to pass.

For the most part yes.

DOT ruined the shoulder with painted bumps and I can't ride to the right due to things like the road kill y'all saw. Therefore I ride in the lane as you see here all the time when there is traffic.

Nice effort

I assume so anyway...the road looks good...:). Can't interpret HR numbers.

I'm thinking of riding harder this year. There are lots of tts around here, many are now incorporating a Merckx (non-aero) division. Think I may start doing some (in addition to the 2 man with Rick). Used to love tts.

here's your interval

is the up-and-down speed intentional or a strava artifact? i'm thinking the latter, because your speed looks pretty consistent in the vid.

It is an artifact. I suspect it is the GPS poling rate actually. The bread crumb drops the iphone is recording so to speak.

I have noted Garmin devices used to show some odd data on Strava. Like there was no smothing done.

I shut things down at Frierson Road which you can see. It is the right turn, that I passed at the end of the video.

I got tired of Strava/Android burps. I just go ride, and HRM is all I worry about if in building mode anymore.

I see how fast Erik is and give up. ;)

I am thinking about a Bluetooth speed and cadence sensor if Strava will suggest one, they don't even have one listed on their sales page but my iPhone app appears to support multiple Bluetooth connections.

They are on amazon for $35. Pretty cheap and much cheaper than getting a Garmin.
