Although faster cyclists rate higher than slower cyclists, given the sporting world as a whole, cyclists are pretty low down on the totem pole for attractiveness...

I dunno. Lance seems to have had his fair share of attractive women before the doping revelations gained traction. Cyclists may be lower on the totem pole here in the US but I don't think that's correct in Europe.

One measure of how attractive a sports professional can be is to look at the wives and girlfriends. In Europe, soccer reigns supreme. Cycling doesn't rate.
Of course, money is a big component too... Lance definitely had that...

Disconnect the sport from the face, run the test, associate the face with the sport and then gather the conclusions.
I believe more athleticism is found more attractive, look at the forms you see being used as models, men and women. Male models and mannequins are buff and the faces are gaunt, chiseled and thin. Male (faster=more fit) normally have more chiseled features.
Female models in many ways are becoming more athletic. The skinny girl look is quickly becoming old school while the "yoga lean healthy and strong" look is showing more and more. Female faces that are chiseled or gaunt are not found more attractive in most societies. I think because thin and underweight does not equate to a good choice for having children.

Unfortunately, Fashion Week runway models still run towards the gaunt and thin. Pretty sad.
