Congrats. I'm sure its a great bike. Hope you enjoy many happy miles on it.
On an unrelated note, I dreamed I was on a bike tour going to Maine last night. Weird, no?
The pics aren't loading for me, but maybe its my browser.

Saffron etc
He posted about the change on his web site - basically time to move on to something different I guess. Funny, he posted on Facebook about the last r&w bike going out yesterday, and I encountered 2 people yesterday already aware of it.
Dan, the first link I posted was bad, then I corrected it to something that works on my computer. Maybe you hit it just at the wrong time and it would work now.

All I can think of looking at the bike is I want to ride it. ;)

So the road bikes are going to be Saffron instead of the Red?
So like the CX team bike color then? I dig the logo panel.

re: Merry Christmas to me
Awesome! And how long has it been from wait list to actual metal?
(Not to hijack your thread, but I've also got a bike on order, not from Mr. Sachs, that's supposed to be coming soon. I'll announce it on this forum when I get it. Seems it has been ages since my last bike order, that was was a custom Bike Friday in 2009.)

You are way over due Sandi. ;)
Good X-Mas bike/presents, always a good thing. ;)
I remember it was the day after x-mas 2000 when UPS put my Strong in my hands.
I almost sent Carl a deposit a while back but chickened out.

Time
Sandi, I've been queued up since 2007. I look forward to news of your acquisition, which I'm sure will be interesting.

Last bike you'll ever buy, Dan? :)
Seven years? Must be good to be Richie.
I've recently reacquainted myself with my Don Ferris bike, custom steel is sooo nice, even if dinged a bit.
And Sandi, a Sachs is a bit out of character for you, mais non?

Last bike?
I've thought of that, could be. Or maybe my next one will be a trike...

Bien sur! Maybe what I wrote wasn't exactly clear, but said it wasn't one. It's nowhere near as desirable or rare or collectible as a Sachs...

That is one sweet looking ride Dan, I hope that you don't have to wait until spring to ride it.

I thought his frames were painted by Joe Bell using DuPont Imron.

Imron, nasty nasty stuff before it dries!! A lot of dead guys for doing that application all wrong form what I have read...
Is it as durable as Powder I wonder...

Imron is a catalyzed polyurethane enamel. It doesn't "dry", it cures like epoxy. What limits it's use is the cost. It's an expensive coating.
Where did you hear it was fatal to any users it? By the time it was developed, proper precautions were well known and only the terminally careless should have been hurt.

Let's agree it is wet before it drys or cures, pardon the vernacular.
Been hearing it for years. Not folks dropping dead, but leading to death with some serious debilitation prior.
Also, a lot of folks thought because Lacquer did not kill you spraying every day [right away] non masked, Emron was more of the same. Much more apparently.
Admit to mostly hear-say...
I happen to be prepping the Bridgestone 400 for a repaint, and trying to decide what route to take. FOr me that means using stock from my guitar painting shelves, or something more durable. Going to follow up with repainting the Colnago Victory as well. In an effort to keep me from getting more frames... ;)

Epoxy
If it's much like epoxy, it can cause some serious health issues. I knew a guy who had been a wood-worker all his life. In his 50s, he became allergic to almost everything. Taking it with a grain of salt, his doctor told him that much of the problem could be attributed to his exposure to epoxy glues and finishes.

Yes, the resins and their initiators can be toxic but that has been known since their development. If you bother to read the labels and pay any attention to the necessary precautions they can be handled safely.
Your wood worker friend apparently didn't pay attention to the precautions.

MSDSs I actually read religiously now. After I changed to a Nitro Cellulose Lacquer not realizing I needed different filters for. I got real serious about it, and should have prior. I always use high end mask, but I did not know at that time filter spec would be different.

Really enjoyed this page on Richard's website:
http://www.richardsachs.com/site/the-next-wave/
Says volumes about the man that he would post such a list.
I research each builder listed and last summer hired Dave Wages (Ellis Cycles) for my next build that should be ready in the spring.

Bad, but appropriate pun
I was looking through the list of "Next Wave" builders and clicked on the link for Shamrock Cycles. The domain name? Lugoftheirish.com.
