Bought a Fat Bike
I honestly don't expect to use it much, but I've wanted a fat bike for a couple years to play with. Bikes Direct is taking pre orders for a batch for next month and I signed up for a cheep one. The wife is gonna start riding again so I'll ride the fat with her till she starts dropping me. Need to get rid of some bikes.... thats 3 frames/bikes this month.

Have fun
Never ridden one, but a friend got one and says it's a ball. And a guy at D2R2 rode away from me on a Fatback with the freakin' tractor tires at 11 psi. I would have taken one on some of the washboard descents.

I'll need to get a good low pressure tire guage. They say theres a lot of difference in 6 versus 4 pounds.

"thats 3 frames/bikes this month."
What the hell is the matter with you anyway?!
;)
Does a tandem count as two, or 1-1/2 ?

Ministerial Bike
A friend of mine who's a minister in New Haven bought a fat bike last year and used it not only for recreation but to visit members of her church when NH got closed down by snow. They're impressive, but not for the faint of heart or those concerned with Q-factors!

Fat bike = Fat profits
"Order NOW & save, prices may go up by $200 later this year"
A price drop is more likely.......
The good news is you are getting more for paying more now... from a price/weight ratio perspective. ;-)

I doubt the prices will go down, those are pretty cheap as it is.

They released a few more yesterday and I was able to pick one up, should be fun.
Now I need to figure out where I can ride it.

Which one did you get? I got a notice that they changed the tires from the original spec on the green one I have coming. They gave me the option to cancel.

Yeah I got the green one as well, I don't know anything about fat bikes, and wasn't even in the market for one, so for me it's just to check it out.
I heard about the tire switch on mtbr, but I decided to go with it anyhow.
Did you cancel?.

It appears I actually got an upgrade on the green one. The original listing was for 27TPI tires, and the sub is 72TPI tires.

YES, it came Friday. I put it together but have not ridden it yet. I realized I have no spare tube:) I ordered one and I'll ride it in a day or two. Did yours arrive yet?

Yeah mine came on Friday as well, but I haven't had time to open the box yet.
Funny thing is that I received a email from them this morning saying that my bike will be shipping today.

The tires are marked 8-20 PSI. They feel preety hard, but none of the guages I have even register any pressure. I ordered a Meiser? low pressure guage today, that is calibrated from 0-30PSI. If bigger tires are faster, I can't imagine how fast this will be:)

Yeah my pump gauge doesn't register lower pressure either, it's a problem with my reguler MT Bike, can't even imagine what it will be like with this :).
