The Sad irony

Be careful out there:

I do hope the people are all right, and that the driver gets some real consequences this time. Taking away his license is obviously not enough. This time they should take away his car. Let him ride a bicycle and share the road with turkeys like himself.

Right around the corner from me. And you can't use the usual excuse of narrow roads either, because although the road is indeed narrow, the motorist hit the riders going the opposite direction.

Martin Veit went through the windshield and had head and internal injuries, according to the Rutland Herald. He was still wedged in the windshield when the car hit the second rider, then hit a tree and he was ejected into the tree. Bad bad stuff.

Account in today's Herald says Veit is now in fair condition. Of course that could still mean anything better than dying, but it's a start.

I am glad my wife is a libra. Should any similar fate or worse befall me on the bike, she is sure to look to balance the scales.

These stories piss me off, I want to smash that assholes face a few times. He belongs in jail as far as I am concerned.

crossed into the northbound lane

Probably drunk, texting, or otherwise distracted. I hope the families' lawyers get the phone records of the driver.

Yikes. I hope tits and crosses don't breeze her through this one. How stupid does stupid have to get before it's too stupid?

Too Close to Home

I've done the Seacoast Century a half-dozen times. I was out of town for work so I knew I wouldn't ride it this year but found out one of my riding buddies was 10 feet away when she veered into his path. He was the first to call 911 and is still traumatized shell-shocked.

More details are emerging, including a second arrest from a known drug dealer....
