@ greg lepore: yup, the tires are for an 80's era Italian frame with a very short chainstay. You can fit 23's but only if the tire is drflated when you put the whel in the frame. Besides, I have the bike dressed up as an 80's crit racer, so the skinny tires just look right, and for this particular bike, i love those thin, hard tires :)

I have a pair of 20c Michelin Axial Pros in Italian tricolor rubber that look like they've never been ridden.

You can always convert it to tubulars

They're more appropriate for "an '80's crit racer" anyway and they're available in smaller widths.

good point Brian

I don't think anyone rode crits on clinchers in the '80s, and I'm not sure 20 mm clinchers even existed then. First real use for racing I recall was Bugno winning the World Championship RR on Michelin clinchers in '91 and '92. I started using them after that.

Normal sewups used for racing were around 21.5, yes?

ProBikekit.com appears to have the Mich Pro 4, Conti 4ks and Supersonics in 20mm. 2 outta 3 under 40.00 too.

I know the OP sez 'from the US' but they ship free to the US from PBK.

Product churn

When you find a tire you like, stock up with a batch of them. Much like running shoes. Wrap em up and keep them out of sunlight.
