Giro talk anyone?

Who is Alex Dowsett?
Is Wiggins ignoring pack wisdom but applying TT wizardry?
Has Cadel Evans found his legs?
WTF about David Millar?

Dowsett rode for Sky last year, but wanted a team where he could try for his own results, so he moved to Movistar for this season. I think he is also the current GB TT champion (don't know if Wiggins contested it or not).

Crossing my fingers for Cadel. I was kind of writing him off after last year, but it looks like he can still bring it.

Millar-I would say he is just a superdomestique nowadays, but he was no where to be seen on today's stage. He also doesn't seem to have it in the TT anymore.

How about the Colombians this year? I wonder Uran and Henao would do if they could ride for themselves?

It's good to see Bradley didn't fall down again in the sprint for 5th place.

The sprint Cadel won, that is.

Four days this week look like Columbia territory. Sky has tremendous depth.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. Anybody up for a spin?

Wiggins is showing some weakness. His tentativeness in descending in the rain of Friday after a spill was remarkable. He seemed to have totally lost his nerve and needed a couple of teammates to lead him down.

Yeah, the way he's been descending, Wiggins should be agitating for the mountain stages to each only have a single climb with the finish at the summit. Get rid of all this nasty descending.

Edit: after stage 10, looks like even mountaintop finishes aren't going to help him...

The stage description for today makes it sound like there is a technical descent off of the 1st climb before they head up the final climb and not a whole lot in between to allow Wiggins to catch back up if he gets dropped. On the bright side for Wiggins I haven't seen any talk of rain.

Looks sunny but Eurosport guys just said 50/50 chance of rain.

Wiggins done

I guess Wiggins is fried and done because the rest day didn't seem to help.

And he won't get the nod over Froome for the Tour either.

Did anyone else see what was written in the snowbank at the side of the road a couple of kilometres from the finish line on the Galibier in yesterday's stage? In letters about a yard high: "Who's Lance?".

Cadel better come out swinging tomorrow for the ITT which should suit him well with maximum gradient of 12%.
Then, if he can get pink AND the snow prediction for the Dolomites verifies, he has a chance to win.
OTOH, even if he wins tomorrow and the following stages are not shortened, I expect he will be fighting to stay on the podium as Uran and probably Scarponi will fly by him on GC.
Can't remember when successive days of weather forecasts have played such a huge role in the outcome of a grand tour.

" In letters about a yard high: "Who's Lance?"."

You mean the guy they are keeping in infamy by doing that? Whilst a hundred or two likely dopers ride by and see it [and quickly look away] ? LOL

Sparky, I love it, my thoughts to a T.

As for the race, why do you think that Scarponi and Uran are going to ride away from Cadel on those climbs?.

Nibali is no slouch in the mountains either. I don't see much change in the top four tomorrow.

Wiggens got to skinny, to soon. He paid the price.

I am rooting for Cadel myself.

Smallest illustration I could find

I'm rooting for Cadel too.

Cyclingnews makes it sound like the race is Nibali's to lose though, and that the stage win is in his grasp.

Will anyone break 30 minutes?

I haven't read the cyclingnews article, however from following the race that is my assessment as well, of course anything can happen, but so far Nibali has shown no weakness at all.

Yep, unless Nibali has at least one dreadful day in the next mountain stages, the Giro is his.

Stage 19 was cancelled due to snow...

and Stage 20 is questionable. The weather has really been miserable this year.

He must have not got the memo that you have to micro micro micro mini-micro dose. Leave out one micro or mini and you blow. What a big surprise...

Need some pills like the Pee in the pool shit. If you have EPO in ya it turns you into a smurf. And they can have a podium spot in the corner with the old Patsy Clark version of Rickie Nelson's 'Am I Blue' playing...

They should tell him he can stay in the race, but he has to saddle up and ride stage 19 over the Gavia and Stelvio Passes in shorts and short sleeves.

One of our cycling friends works for the Australian Sports Anti Doping Agency (our equivalent of USADA). Hadn't seen him for a while, but this morning he was on the ride and at coffee afterwards. When asked what he'd been doing, he gave a grin and said "Taking the piss", then another grin and added "Literally".
