As a huge Trekkie I think the commercial is great. I think LN is great in the part with a comedy twist.

"Is that Scotty getting out of the last car?"

I was wondering if i was someone know. But it did not look like Simon Peg to me, if you mean that Scotty. I could be wrong of course.

I think so.

I don't get the reference to the Hobbit. Why is LN singing the song?

Many years ago

In a move that he would likely rather forget (I would have thought!) Nimoy did some singing for a an animated TV production of The Hobbit.

Nor to me, but the sweater he was wearing reminded me strongly of the one Scotty(2) was wearing when Kirk(2) discovered him at doing penance for sending off Archer's beagle.

Did you open the first link? Without that first, one part of the commercial is oddly amusing, an iconoclastic jab at the Spock character. But after seeing that first link it becomes a cultural reference to an iconoclastic jab at the Spock character.

Sigh, I had to explain a joke last night too.

A blonde walks into a bar with 2 friends.
The first one orders a G&T.
The blonde asks "what's that?"
...Gin and tonic
The second one orders a B&T
"...What's that?"
...Black and Tan
By now the blonde thinks she'll show them what sophisticated is.
"I'll have a Fifteen"
Her friends ask "What's that?"
"7 & 7"

After I explained it to the guy last night he laughed and said "She's stupid!"
