I fully remember when I started back up on the bike again. 18 years ago I was on BP MEDS and was 255lb. Got a MTB bike and found some nuts to ride with regularly like.

Probably not exactly too healthy, but I bet I rode above the Anaerobic threshold more than 80% of the time most of that 1st year. Probably took 3 years before it was under 50% of the time.

It was not until my switch to road riding 5th year that I leaned and was in good enough shape to have some control over it. At my age now, I would not allow this.
Not fear of death, more fear or not dying and not being able to ride from a stroke. ;O
