Winter continues
Here in central CT, most of the week they were predicting a modest snowfall. As late as yesterday morning the forecast was for 3 - 6 inches. Well, I shoveled and snowblowed (snowblew?) approximately 14" this morning and there has been at least another 2 inches since. And it's still snowing! Oy.

We got an inch or 2, and now it's melting.

More since, but it seems to have tailed off in Lesser New Haven.

Geez, I noticed that, too. There was about 7" on the walk when I shoveled at about 7:00, and by the time I left 2 hours later it looked like another 2 or 3" had fallen. It's been snowing steadily in the 5 hours since, and the radar pic shows the storm center stalled off the coast (hasn't moved significantly since before sunrise), so this may go on for hours more.
On the other hand, the air temp at the surface is just above freezing, and it's expected to warm substantially after the storm passes --mid-50's by Tuesday. But it's a very slippery mess at the moment.
I've been commuting by public transit since New Year's. I was hoping to get back on the bike next week, but it may take a little longer for this to melt.

Too bad I have a rather busy day in the office. Or I'd take a day off and slay the powda!!!
But will hit the hill tomorrow first thing!!! :D:D:D

That's gonna be some heavy cement "powda," April. This is sloppy stuff down here, and even up in the mountains the temperature is at or above freezing.
But with a little grooming it'll be nice.

Actually report on the mountain is it's not particularly heavy. At least not right now. But tomorrow's temperature is shooting through the roof by mid-day. So for me the not-a-morning person, I'll get up early and hope to get some good turns in before it all turn to soup.

58f and sunny. Did not ride today three days straight plus 16 miles of bricks last weekend means a day off from exercise.
Gonna do a few miles tommorow.

Since the couple of winter nightmares we've had recently, I'm prone to appreciate it from a distance.

Things are improving
Around 50 degrees today and the roads are in good shape. Some intersections where snow got piled at the corners are still tight, but with several days of 50 degree temps forecast, most of it should be gone soon.

Looks like winter is done here. My PDX/Spokane/PDX trip was sunny both ways over two days. And the gorge jaunt coming and going is pretty terrain for relaxed driving with lots of pretty views etc.
Got the ids a car and drove it up Fri., and Elaine shot up to the Tri Cities and the kids and I drove south to meet. Spent some time @ Columbia Park in Kennewick watching some hot dog RC helicopter pilots doing amazing things some very expensive toys. Had a family dinner and parted ways. Kids back to Spokane in the Escort, and Elaine and I home to Portland. Glad they are only 350 miles away, it is not too bad a drive up for a day or two. Now one or both of them can drive down. ;)
But two of the best and most beautiful days of the year thus far...
Nest weekend with DST and popping 60^ is promising. ;)
Wishing the same for all...

Great day
Snowshoes in the woods this am in the 20sF, took a bike ride pm in the 40s, walked the dogs, I'm calling that a triathlon. First time on studless tires in months.

What's snow...
Actually saw some remnants while going for a walk up
in Spokane Sat. morning. Actually stepped on some to see what it felt like...

I don't think about cycling when I'm skiing. Nor do I think about skiing when I'm cycling.
Take what comes and enjoy the moment, wholeheartedly.
