Best we can hope for is for LeMond to remain lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce when/if LA falls short of obligation to the sport.
Thus far, at least, some progress has been made.

So basically, we learnt nothing new, he named no names, threw no one under a bus, dodged questions about the hospital incident, said he was clean after 2005 which I presume is for statute of limitation reasons and, anything else...?

We learned he's still not going to be entirely honest.

He didn't deny it. Given Lance's history, that's tantamount to an admission of guilt.

Betsy Andreau Video

Based on what I have read it appears that Lance was forthright on about 75% of the accusations. It is extremely likely that he was very involved in the firing of riders, I think there is more to be said about his relationship with the UCI, and he dodged a direct answer in regards to the SCA lawsuit over the millions of dollars in bonus payments. He said much more than I expected, so I guess that is a big step in the right direction.

He will never admit to firing non 'team players'.
In other words guys who would not get on board or not willing to do the PED regime according to LA IMO [guesstimation].

It seems obvious if a rider was not willing to go all the way so LA could, he would be gone. But admitting to that one would have the Justice Dept. opening back up their case I suspect.

I imagine this was simply "understood". I doubt Lance ever explicitly told someone dope or you're fired. There wouldn't be any need to do that, they just wouldn't renew their contract because their performance wasn't where it need to be.

I'm not sure what to assume about how many of the team's newcomers would have been newcomers to the world of doping(?).
But there likely would have been quite a quantitative sort of difference when running with the A team, and doing the transfusion stuff, especially, would likely shock/disgust most riders who hadn't been down that road.

One can only imagine the queasy feeling about one's own health that retiring riders must feel after several years of this business.
Perhaps some resentment over all they have sacrificed, ultimately for their sponsors.
Enough to want to help clean up the sport for future and upcoming riders?

We have Johnathan Vauters who I feel is one of LA's cast offs. He sure appears to be doing it right.

LA covered his ass and said exactly what the lawyers told him to say. He was better prepared than any witness or defendant would ever be. Don't think there was not a single question he did not know was coming and I would bet he got all the questions well before the interview.

I find who he did not mention more important than those he did.

S. Crowe, she knew so much she ran from him for good reason. Plus she figured out he was an ass.

Frankie himself and Vaughters and his team.

He was and is an an asshole.

I still support Livestrong for their work and I know it is not research.

"How about them apples?"

You're making a lot of assumptions...

...since you can't possibly know some of these things.

I think you also have it backwards about his answers. He avoided saying things his lawyers told him NOT to say, though from what I've heard, he apparently overstepped those recommendations on a few occasions.

Like it or not, he cannot be absolutely and completely forthcoming without risking ruining himself financially and/or ending up in prison. I don't care what people think of him or the interview, we all have the instinct for self-preservation and I'm not about to hold that against him, given how much he HAS admitted. That's probably why he would not discuss "Besty-gate"; admitting that it happened would be admitting to perjury. Would any of us hang ourselves that way? As it is, he stands to lose almost everything through lawsuits, but he still has the need to survive.

Additionally, he may be in the process of working out deals with the Justice Department, USADA, WADA and other agencies.

What I'm interested in is what happens next, specifically whether he testifies in the UCI investigation. Hopefully, his testimony can bring down Verbruggen and McQuaid once and for all, which would allow the sport to finally move forward.

I also wonder how all the dopers he raced against are feeling now, especially those who haven't gotten busted. Are they're breathing a sigh of relief that Lance is taking all of the heat or are they scared shitless that he's ultimately going to implicate a bunch of people?

This is likely just the beginning of the story.

A local newspaper headline after the interview was aired described him as "The self-confessed liar, bully and narcissist".

I agree.

He almost certainly screwed up royally when he made the decision not to cooperate with the USADA.

This is all part of the process to minimize the legal and financial consequences of the USADA decision, and allow him to compete again.

Hence why he won't admit to doping after 2005, why he won't admit to telling docs about his doping... IIRC under WADA a lifetime ban can only be reduced to an 8 year ban. If he could pull that off he'd be eligible to start competing sometime this year. I just can't believe Tygart is going to let him get away with not copping to the comeback doping, but stranger things have happened.

I suspect the lawyers have had him well coached regarding what he should and shouldn't admit to. He laid the groundwork for the claim that he was unjustly treated differently, etc.

And darn football games too!

CNN ran with a lot of LA coverage, especially since Betsy was so stepping up to the mike over there.

Betsy 'sez' it is the biggest scam in all sports history. because she has so much experience outside this in sports. Please, although I get her anger totally, albeit misplaced in a few aspects....

She did say at a point that it is all way bigger [in a LA isn't all that kinda way] than LA could ever orchestrate. The way I took it anyway...

I never really paid much attention to her beyond knowing her basic claims. Happened to be traveling on Saturday and caught her on CNN while I was waiting in an airport. Man, my heart goes out to Frankie. Talk about blowing things way out of proportion.

I'm with you on that

But you have to keep in mind that CNN is only interested in fanning the flames for their own benefit and an outraged woman who's nearly in tears will continue to draw in viewers after the main story is over.

About the only thing that's interesting here is that this interview took place after she and Lance spoke, which indicates that they had very different interpretations of that discussion. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that.

LA need an injection for the whole truth I'd say.
But not one he is likely to have had before....

"So it turns out It's Really Not About The Bike"

We were riding on Saturday and I said, "what am I on? I'm on my bike", got a giggle.
...even as I had my espresso working for me.

Something about that cartoon...

Maybe they should switch places, he asking her if she really ran that marathon.
