Early end to my season due to COVID

Took a work trip to Seattle a couple weeks ago. Took the bike, got some really great rides in- Mercer Island, around Lake Washington, and on Whidbey Island. Set some power/intensity PRs and really enjoyed riding roads with drivers less enraged by bikes than in NY.

Within hours of returning home I was flat on my back with raging COVID. Today is a week after that and i'm just coming up for air. Coach is telling me that I really shouldn't be riding at all (as in more than 100w for more than 15m) for at least another week. The evidence for cardiac complications such at myocarditis post-COVID is not super clear at this point but the data seems to show an increased, if somewhat minimal, risk.

Not going to risk it. Was planning on doing some CX for fun over the next few weeks but that's not going to happen.

This especially hurts because the last few weeks of being able to ride outside are quickly slipping away. NOT looking forward to NE snow.

Bummer. Sounds like you are having a worse reaction than a lot of people these days, but that is the nature of Covid. We have 70 F in lower Michigan today, with a high next Tuesday forecast in the 30s. The season is fading fast.

Get better and take it easy, for sure. I got Covid at a 3 day bike event last year.

Rob, on a different note, ever ride in the 'Dacks? I'm going to be in Lake Placid in April for the eclipse and, weather permitting, riding would be fun. Whiteface is hard enough to look interesting, even though it may be beyond my present capability. April may be too early for the upper regions, but with climate change, who knows....

Hi Dan, I'm a bit far from there for regular riding but within easy striking distance for something planned. Was actually going to do whiteface after I got back from SEA but the rona ruined that.

Would definitely be up for a ride, schedule permitting. Depending on when in APR you are here I may be in the UK. Ric will have his spring training camp then (dates not finalized yet) am I'm tentatively planning on attending again should everything work out. But if I'm here, let's make a plan.
