hard to say much else since you put the no spoilers tag in. Phil and Bob were saying the format of the first week (hilly/hard stages right from the start, no prologue or TT) was designed for this type of excitement...mission accomplished, I guess.

Yeah, RIP to the stupid, old-school practice of boring prologues and tedious processions to sprints in the first week. This is the way stage races should be run.
Unfortunately, so far today's stage is a snoozer that's making up for the excitement of the previous days. Too bad you can't fast-forward live coverage to the sprint at the end.

Lol, not a snoozer at the end, though!

No, decidedly not!, It's just a shame that only the last 8K was worth watching (and that's being generous).

It's what DVRs were made for. I can't imagine watching a stage like to day "live" except for the last 10 km.

TdF stages 3 and 4, I watched the first few minutes and then switched to the women's
Giro instead, which was much more exciting racing. Stage five in particular...

"Watching" it live is sort of a misnomer for me. I have it going on a laptop off to the side while I work, so I can catch anything interesting, but I'm not actually watching most of the time.
Wednesday's stage was definitely an interesting one and we now have a real race on our hands!

Reminds me of a late 80's/early 90's tour-tough first week, more riders have a shot.
At least until today and Jumbo did the train thing. Dunno about that. How does Wout climb like he does? He's a big guy.

Wout, yeah. They were saying he had 20 lb on the next heaviest rider going up climbs on front of break away,. Then pulled on the front when the Vingo/Pog group caught up. Not for long granted.
But when he pulled off, I thought he was going to just topple over. ;)
