Reimagining cycling videos

I rode the Ergvideo this morning of Cap de Formentor in Mallorca. I rode out that way on my last trip there, but didn’t ride up the thing as I had diminished capacity from busting my leg a few months earlier.

Anyway, I used to think of the videos as simulating the ride, but now in the age of Zoom I’m thinking of them as actually doing the ride. I can do hearings and meetings by Zoom without going to the physical location, so now I’m considering the ergvideo the actual ride in Mallorca, just done with the benefit of technology. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Weather was great today.

Last 3 CT uses I did Mallorca Eastern Climbs. I was happy to see Paul went back to the 99.00 yearly subscription, had stopped it for some reason..

Do you just run your set up on PC, or dual monitor?

I have a 40" for the VID, and the panel for hrm/rpm/etc on the lap top..

EDIT:Col de Cayolle after I entered that post...

Second best vacation I've ever had was my 2010 trip to Mallorca. I still have occasional nightmares about climbing the switchbacks up to Santuari de Sant Salvador at 4 mph.

Monitors

I just run it on my computer monitor. I don’t really pay that much attention to the video.

Mallorca vacation

Yes, I hope to go back. The first time I went my buddy Mike broke his femur on a hairpin the first day we were out, the second time I broke my femur a couple months before the trip, so I never really got to ride as I’d like. So either the third time will be a charm or 3 strikes and I’m out....

The hairpins in Mallorca are the real thing, I’ve seen nothing like them in the US. This is the descent of Santa Magdalena where Mike bought it (and another guy from Portland broke his hip the next year on the exact same turn).

I've been on roads in CA with similar corners, albeit not as many. As I recall, there were some tight switchbacks descending from Ghisallo into Bellagio, Italy. They definitely get your attention, especially on a rented bike!

Not sure exactly what you mean by re-imaging but that ride is also available on Big Ring VR. Albeit only the ascending portion.
