Was that last year's event, or people out on their own on the course this year?
I remember that section, as there was a lot of jockeying for position and people flatting left and right.

Dan Emery sent it up:
"Last Sunday I met Rick Hardy and a friend of his in NH and rode the course of Raid Rockingham, a fairly hard gravel event we did a few years ago. At least it seemed harder now than it did then....a few 15% dirt climbs. And a lot more washboard than before. Good to push it a little though."

Fun Ride
Funny thing, I didn’t consider this ride very hard when I did it about 5 years ago, but it seemed hard enough last week. I don’t think it’s because I’m older, but because I haven’t ridden nearly as much or as hard.
I don’t know if it was the drought or what, but there was much rougher washboard this year, and the short “cyclocross” section seemed a bit funkier.
It’s a nice course, and I felt I could ride it fairly decent with more prep.
Also nice to have a sandwich outside with real people.

That's one of our favorite rides. It's plenty hard, but not brutal and the weather is generally good when it's normally run. The course has a bit of everything in it and they put on a nice feed at the end. Hopefully, it will be back next year.
And Dan,
nothing
feels as easy as it did 5 years ago...even laying on the couch and watching TV is harder now!

Where was my invite?
It's a great course being a lot of the roads I ride in my 'hood. But not riding regularly enough these days to attempt to try and hold anyone's wheels. Maybe a TTF reunion next year would be cause to get my arse in gear. I think the last time I saw Dan was as at D2R2 probably 10 years ago.

Hey Garvin
Great to hear from you. You definitely get an invite next time, and a reunion next year sounds great. I didn’t realize you were right in that area. Don’t have to worry about holding my wheel at this point, a bit into the ride I was a one man gruppetto...Let’s all resolve to ride more.
And I don’t think it was quite 10 years ago....
