SUX
Have talked to this guy a few times. This is along the route I take most, very disconcerting...
Now that all the other tools see the news and links. In case they had not figured out what cash cows bike muggings can be... A trend will possibly make this worse before it may get better...
I may have to go back riding with the club for a while, in numbers. Or ride a nasty looking bike. Doesn't mean they won't knock you off before they realize it ain't a huge score though...
PDX has progressively gotten worse since we got here unfortunately...

Sad senseless story. I have not heard of bikejacking here yet, but it's probably just a matter of time.

That's horrible! I hope they catch the turds and give them what the deserve.
Sadly, your state gubmint seems hellbent on eliminating the ability of Oregon citizens to protect themselves against such attacks. Totally misguided.

Pepper spray is legal here. I'd ask what you meant specifically, except we ain't doing politics per Anthony's strong suggestion? Not sure how to word that. ;)
eMail me if you want Brian.

Based on the video, it seems unlikely that the kid even knows what he stole. Now that he's been spotted, hopefully he'll be identified and arrested, and the bike recovered.

Riding in groups of 2 or more would keep most perps from attacking. Sad that someone just can't go for a ride when they want.

I have to agree that is my take away now, where is was not originally. Just bling factor being so high.
I read he trains 3hr day, and the kit he is wearing in the after mugging video is the team kit..

Hey Lawyers??
Hasn't grand theft of cars became specific legal charge with specific sentencing etc at a point in time?
Now that 'bikes' are $6k commonly, 10k bikes less than uncommon in the day. Do we need a 'grand theft auto laws to encompass non motorized vehicles above what petty larceny laws cover?
