Royal River ice?

This question is directed to Dan Emery--how's the ice on the Royal River? Good skating? Planning to find some wild ice on Saturday for the Nordic Blades. I hear Lake Cobboseecontee is pretty good.

Ice

Hi David, I'm embarrassed to say I don't know. I've been focusing on my CT this year and haven't been back to the river. Based on the weather I'd be skeptical, but I dunno. When I head back to the office I'll see what it looks like on Elm St.

Having been through the ice 3x (twice on purpose) I like to see tracks before I venture out.

update

I just stopped by the Water District on E. Elm and the ice actually looked quite good and there were a number of tracks going under the bridge and heading upriver. The ice was completely solid under the bridge, whereas there is often open water in the middle even when the river is otherwise skatable. So the skating may actually be quite good, though as I said I haven't been on it.

Thanks

Thanks, Dan

We'll check it out tomorrow morning before the snow starts.

Cheers,

David

skated today

Had a great 2 hour skate up and down the river today. Pretty smooth ice, although imperfections covered by snow led to some spectacular falls!

Great

Yes it's not a skating rink out in the wilds :). Glad the skating was good. I thought about going, but I'm on a mission so I rode the CT.

Pretty, isn't it? My land is on east side about halfway between E. Elm and Rt. 9.

Hmm... "tracks" of someone who ventured out before... nobody!

Nevertheless, I like your thinking. :D
