OT: my ersatz "Android Touch" gizmo
so i wanted a really small wifi-only gizmo to listen to Pandora @ the gym. basically an ipod touch, but really small and android-based.
i found this little ruggedized GSM phone for $70 that does the trick! its freakin tiny and runs full android 4.x, so it does everything i need. i've disabled most functionality, and only have installed Pandora and a good sound EQ app to enhance the sound. and i disable the phone-radio to maximize battery life.
trying to use the onscreen keyboard is comical, but setting up wifi and my accounts only happens 1x, so it's not really a problem. it's pretty cool to have such a small but still fully capable phone, even though i dont need all those capabilities. it's even dual-SIM capable.
this thing does the business and it's so teensy-weensy, just what i was after! :-)

not currently
i tried some cheapies last year or so, but they sucked.
i wanted something like this because my phone is just so big/bulky, dont even want it in my gym shorts pocket. in the past when i used BT, i used a jabra clipper to connect to my phone but its still a short length of wire. this thing is is not much bigger than the jabra clipper.
this thing does have BT, so i could use it with BT headphones. are BT headphones better now?

Since most phones don't have ANT+, I'd guess it must be BTLE

Of course you would not want to use the buds on the road..
I also want some wireless buds of some type. I absolutely blow my brains when lifting so as to shut out the people around me. I am antisocial like that.
I use my phone though, I have a touch but don't like carrying two things. I want something to carry my phone in. I use an arm strap until I am working arms and then my phone goes in a pocket or just gets unplugged during that time.
I don't pandora but I do iTunes match which I really like. My playlists and my music. On occasion I will turn on iTunes radio.

I use them for running not cycling.
But there is a lot of controversy in running about them.
If you use an iPod and win a race - (obviously this can't apply to me), you'll get DQ'ed.

maiden voyage: success!
wifi hookup, pandora login, bam! discovered that the gizmo also has a built-in FM radio as backup.
i also just made up a set of DIY bespoke in-hear headphones. 2-part silicone earplugs and then insert earbuds of your choice immediately (altec-lansing in this case). minor adjustments with an x-acto after 15 minute cure to open up the audio passageways fully.
these i'll use when cleaning the yard up in the Fall w/ my backpack blower.

I used earplugs like that back in the '70s while testing jet engines!
