wonder if Ti-nitride coatings can be other colors
whenever i see Ti-ni coated drill-bits for instance, they're always gold. maybe its just a marketing thing.
google-fu -- looks like gold color is inherent for Ti-N.

however, they could use a DLC (diamond like carbon) coating instead, which i've seen in black and has the benefit of being carbon-based which everyone knows is better than titanium! and honestly, DLC if applied onto a base material thats not so soft, would provide <b>significant scratch protection</b> that is so valued by many.
