Sorry, hope it all works out with no long term problems. We don't have any large trees for that reason.

Glad to hear it missed people. Also cars/bldg etc.

I'd think it late in the year for those kinds of storms. Is that typical for your neck of he woods.

called it in saturday morning...an edison crew showed up this evening to tape off the area.,.and they *stumbled* across it!

the tree looks like some sort of "weed" tree, nothing special...it was siamesed to another, that stayed in the ground but i'll probably have taken down as well since it looks compromised.

and that's a swing i built maybe 14 years ago...took it hard, along with our neighbor's playscape.

Usually in the woods fortunately, though trees have taken out a portion of my fence a couple times. Shallow soils underlain by marine clay, roots often don't go deep. My wife had a bunch of pine trees close to the house taken down for that reason, probably a good idea.

Losing electricity is worse of course if you don't have a generator, it's winter, and/or you have a septic system.

Glad none of your bikes were parked under the tree. :)

Assume you mean with field water pumped. Mine is all gravity induced. So you can still flush and shower albeit with cold water when the juice is out. ;)

we have well-water, so running water requires supplemental power. septic requires no supplemental power! ;-)

right now i'm running an 8.5kw generator plugged into the house and an xfer switch to run a half-dozen key circuits. i'm debating upgrading to a 15kw deal and just run the whole house.
