mom's +10 year old sony laptop was giving her fits. i bought her a modern asus and she was chuffed.

i took the old sony into receivership and replaced xp with lubuntu (lightweight flavor of ubuntu) installed some addtional ram (maxed at 2gb -- its old) and its now working a treat, quite snappy and does everything i need!

looks like the single/double quote key is a little flakey, need to pop off the cover and see if i can clean it up...but it works great

I find pets in a house where a lap tops lives usually accumulates pet hairs under keys. Waxed floss without popping them off can grab it FYI.

Sticky key...a can of compressed air may help, too.
