Not a woosee after all... 26^ content. ;)

Picked up a second 29er wheelset last night for non knobby tires use.

So I decided I would ride the bike to the PO to mail out some stuff. 26^ calm-ish winds. Closed for lunch, rode back home. 28^ now, second trip and then a detour down this moon scape for a road and back to the pavement to get home. kept the cranks spinning. ;)

I was actually pretty hot when I got back to the house. Worse the first trip, and I peeled off a layer for the 2^ hotter second trip. ;) Love that old Ceramic Ski Jacket! :) Over estimated what layers to have under...

Wheels have Salsa Semi welded 29er rims, like 30mm wide outside to outside @ bead! Came with Conti Comfart Contact 47C tires. Some serious meat, spread way out with rims that wide.

@ full pressure 58lb. makes for a nice ride. Although I suspect 5 minutes in 26^ the air density lowered the pressure.

Original plan was 28C or some 32s I have, but new 47s on the wheels, I thought I would not like but do.

Smooth center tread, and a pasella like edge tread. There was a few long sections of fresh 3/4" loose crushed stone to fix washouts. I was surprised how well the smooth tread handled it.

brrrr.....

;)

Welcome to frostbite riding!

A couple of comments:

1. If you pumped the tires to 58 psi at 70°F the pressure would be about 53 psi at 26°F.

2. You can make the "degree" (°) sign from your keyboard if it has a number pad and you have the "num lock" on. Hold the Alt key down and type 248.

Note book so I'd have to fcn key in and out the num pad. So I do the lazy ^ for degrees.'

I used to name files and folders ALT255.ALT255 and variations.
