Yo NYC Folks

I'm in the Big Apple Sat and Sun of next (MLK) weekend, if anyone is not away skiing and would like to grab a few Belgian Brews.

NYC Traffic

Ha, I'm staying in mid-town and that Illinois cop that tried to arrest Parkin at Times Square scared me off!

Actually I can fly to LaGuardia from Portland in an hour and a half for $150 round trip, so that works for me.

I missed it!

Yeah, I'll be around. That is, unless a snowstorm materialize out of nowhere sometime next week to call me to the mountains (no storm according to the forecast).

Nah

Done it before, cabs to and from airport not that bad as I recall, otherwise walk or subway. Visiting 2 nieces who know their way around. And subtract out 4 days of parking in mid-town....

We were in NYC for a family wedding last weekend. My wife and I drove in from Pittsburgh on Friday (1/4) and the rest of my family flew into LaGuardia that day.

We were staying at the Hilton in Tribeca and, once we got through the Holland Tunnel, we were only a few blocks from the hotel so my Manhatten driving was thankfully very minor. The Hotel parking was $55/day!!

The kid's cab fare from LaGuardia to the Tribeca Hilton was $35 (the cabbie knew where he was going) to $45 ( that cabbie didn't).

Once you get your head out of your, um, automobile, this works well in any large city. Bus, too. And bikeshare as well (keeping my fingers crossed that the next NYC mayor doesn't scuttle it). And even carshare if you absolutely must have a car for something.
